Today's class was helpful in showing different ways to write a thesis. I usually just write my introductory as I go along.
same, i just go with the flow; brainstorm. I was never taught certain instructions to write an introductory paragraph.

Today's class session was really fun! The exercise gave me room to be creative with making different introductory paragraphs, and its always a joy to learn about new methods of creating a stronger introductory paragraph. I hope you guys had as much fun with this lesson as i have. :)

The class discussion and exercises today really helped me in realizing the various mistakes I've been making during the writing process of my paragraph. It also introduced me to the different kinds of ways I can write my introductory paragraph for it to match my topics better. I also learned how to use the different supporting ideas/sentences to make a proper thesis.

ReplyDeleteThe controlling Idea of this paragraph is that not all officer Jenkins was not like any other cops because he showed respect to the inmates. In this paragraph, it showed multiple actions such as calling the inmates by their name and he also sings a song when the lights needed to be turned off. The type of organization the paragraph uses is listing and giving examples of the controlling idea. It is true that the examples in the paragraph is vivid, specific, and representative. This paragraph is first person point off view.
In today's class, I learned about the many methods of introduction such as background, direct statement of the thesis, and shocking statement. Like the introduction we also discussed the various types of conclusions. An example that I myself use when writing an essay is concluding with a review on the main points. Learning about these other types of introduction and conclusion will surely help me when composing an essay.

Today's lesson was about paragraph writing and several effective ways to write your thesis statement or introductory paragraph. It helped me realize that I usually write my introductory paragraph as a Direct statement of Thesis paragraph. The lesson introduced me to several new types of paragraphs and further expand my writing knowledge.
I too wrote my introductory paragraphs as direct statement. Learning these new methods will add variety to our writing.
