In my words, a narrative essay is an essay in which the author is narrating their own story in a first-person point of view. Among the topics listed, I chose an experience that showed how we should be careful of what we wish for. I chose this topic because I've had a couple of experiences in which I made a wish and when it came true the outcomes were not as desirable as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteLast Tuesday, we discussed organizing and developing support. At first i wasn't sure about the topic until we did the exercises. I remember doing these exercises back at high school, and it made it a lot easier for me to go through them.Overall, the discussion in class will be very helpful in developing better topic sentences and thesis statements.
wow, talk about Freaky Friday. you know the saying, "Be careful what you wish for."
DeleteI agree, the class discussions we have help me to remember and refresh the things i've learned.
I like the topic you chose for the narrative essay. Most times, a lot of us regret making a wish because it doesn't usually turn out the way we want to!
DeleteThe class discussion made me remember doing these in high school too.
Your topic for a narrative essay is very interesting!
DeleteI agree, today's class discussion was a refreshing course from what we did in high school.
I think the topic of being careful what we wish for is a really interesting.
DeleteA narrative essay is a type of writing that makes the writer sound more like themselves. It is usually written in a first-person point of view and contains details of an event that happened. The essay should have an introduction, plot, characters, setting, climax, and conclusion. Out of the many narrative topics, I chose a vacation trip from your childhood. I selected that topic because I remember my first time traveling off island for vacation. I remember being so excited and nervous while on an airplane. During class, we learned about writing the controlling idea. It was about identifying the subject and focus and judging each sentence if it was effective or not.
ReplyDeleteyou just defined a narrative essay to its best potential haha!
Deletei also like the topic choice you chose, man I think everyone's choosing their first time off island.
Your topic for the narrative essay sounds interesting. I would want to hear about your off island trip.
DeleteThe lessons we have learned today will make it much more easier for us.
Your definition of a narrative essay is very descriptive!
DeleteI to have chose the same topic to write as a narrative essay. We would have some similarities and differences based on our experience that can be compared.
your description is great. And I like your choice in essay.
DeleteI would like to know about your experience off island.
DeleteA narrative essay is a first person narrative on an event. We see that persons perspective on the event such as character traits, secondary characters trait, settings, emotions, etc.
ReplyDeleteI chose the first time traveling off island. its an event I know well and is easy to write about. For example. I still remember the joy of going to disney land for the first time.
In class we learned how to find and create effective sentences. As we also found how to identify ineffective sentences. We also learned how to find the focus and subject of a sentence.
whoa! i chose the same topic too, about traveling for the first time off island! definitely not biased or anything but i like your choice and your narrative essay description about character traits.
DeleteIts cool how i have seen some of our classmates have chose the same topic. Damn now i need a vacation off island. haha*
DeleteAnyways i like what you have said for the narrative essay.
I agree with you on that.
That is a very interesting topic. Off Island vacations are a lot of fun. I bet you will write a pretty good essay
DeleteA narrative essay is an essay were the author tells a story in a fist person point of view. The author writes about what happened to he/she during the event; how he/she felt or what he/she was thinking at the time.
ReplyDeleteThe topic i chose is one minute of a football game (or any other sport). I'll be writing about the last point of my tennis game. I chose this event because even until now i still get excited as i remember what happened that day on the courts.
The topic we leaned today was about organizing support. Organizing your supporting materials helps make your paragraph and essays strong. Just like a draft it also helps you organize your thoughts and ideas. Organizing support has three very helpful tools you can use; listing, clustering, and outlining.
I left out the details of my description of a narrative essay. I like your definition.
DeleteI like your definition as well. It's very specific.
DeleteI like how you explained your narrative essay.
DeleteAnd your topic sounds interesting to me. It reminds me of my "basketball days" down to a minute and also down to the last shot.
Your definition of narrative essay is short and concise. I also have had memorable sport moment. It was when I first scored a goal in soccer.
Deleteyour topic is very interesting. As a person that plays sports I too have memorable events like yours.
DeleteA narrative essay is when a first person point of view is being narrated whether it is a story or an essay. I would choose my first time visiting another country. In fact, my first time off island. For once I was able to leave Guam out of my 19 years of living. It was to Bangkok, Thailand. I chose this because I had a great enjoyable non-forgettable memory being there especially since I was with all my friends (senior trip) and it was a certain holiday at that time we visited. Today's lesson was about organizing support. It develops good and strong sentences within your draft or essay. It also can develop a strong point or strong character to that essay or paper. Also, it is a great technique to strengthen and organize your thoughts and ideas.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Organizing with the three techniques we learned do help develop good sentences to support our main idea!
DeleteOrganizing our outlining will make it much easier :)
DeleteNice topic. Sounds like you had an awesome time in Thailand!
DeleteA narrative essay is an essay where the writer writes about something he experienced or witnessed. It is almost always told in the first person point of view. For the topic, I would choose my first day at a new school or college. I still remember the very first day I stepped on a school not knowing where to go and such, so it should be easy to write about.
ReplyDeleteToday's class was about organizing support. Listing, clustering and outlining. It helps us organize our essay before we write it so that we know what to write.
I to had a similar experience during my first day at school and would like to hear more about your perspective.
DeleteWe all have that first day experience. Luckily I met a few people around school to help me out. I would also like to hear more about your first day.
DeleteWe chose the same topic! I chose it because it is something I can write about in vivid detail.
DeleteA narrative essay is an essay being told by the writer. narrative essay is all about the writer telling his own experience in an event to readers. My topic for this essay, uh i cant choose between "last on a job" and " One minute of a (Any sports) game.
ReplyDeleteIn class today, I have learned how to organize my "out lining" on my paper. These lessons will make it easier to do an outline for our up coming testes.
I would like to hear an experience from either of the topics you chose because it would be very interesting to see your personal point of view.
DeleteGood luck in choosing both are very interesting topics. And nice description of a narrative essay
DeleteA narrative essay is simply a type of essay that focuses on personal experiences or perspective of a certain topic or event.
ReplyDeleteThe topic I would prefer to write would be a vacation trip from childhood. I chose this topic because as a child, I had the opportunity to travel to many different places. Describing these places from a personal point of view would best suit a narrative essay.
Today's lesson involved organizing supports. This topic involved the organization of ideas using techniques such as outlining, listing, and clustering. Using these techniques can help strengthen the structure of the essay.
We chose the same topic. I think we chose the same thing because it was one of the first and most memorable experiences in our lives.
DeleteI believe a narrative essay is where the writer's focus is about telling a story. The story is usually told from the point of view of the author.
ReplyDeleteI would choose a vacation trip in my childhood. When I was 10 years old, I went to Disney World in Florida with my family. We also had quite a number of relatives there and I had a great time. I could remember a bunch of good memories from that trip and it would be easy for me to write about it.
Organizing support was about Listing, clustering and outlining. It helps you break down your main topic of your essay into smaller specific ones. Each of those topics will help you form your paragraphs and form your whole essay.
Well, a narrative essay is... it's self-explanatory isn't it? You, the writer will compose a essay in which you are retelling a story from your point of view. The topics you can write about are limitless. It's simple, especially if we use the techniques we've learned so far. The topic I chose to write about is "an encounter with someone or something you were afraid of.". I actually liked the other topics but I thought "Why not try something new?". I never shared this kind o experience before so I'm looking forward to writing(or rather typing) this essay. I'm not sure if my experience is that scary since I was just a kid when it happened so don't expect it to be anything bone-chilling. (:D)
ReplyDeleteThe lesson we had today was all about "Organizing Support" which included listing, clustering, and outlining. These techniques are mostly used to help you break down your ideas in order for you to make your paragraphs and your essay as a whole. They also help you organize your ideas so you end up with a pretty good essay.
I agree, organizing your support will make you have a really effective essay.
DeleteI agree. With great topics all we really need is organization to make a pretty good essay
Deletea narrative essay can sometimes be a short story referring to yourself in the first person. it usually deals with the authors memories and feeling. my topic for writing a narrative essay would be my first experience in working at seventh day Adventist clinic. there were many procedures that i was able to see.
ReplyDeleteA narrative essay is about telling a story. It is written in a first person's point of view. The topic that I chose for my narrative essay is my quick trip to another country. I have been traveling lately for my job and I have been in four different places in one year and I am loving it !
ReplyDeleteThe lesson that we had today about the organizing support was very helpful, but of all the three strategies I would still choose outlining. Not only because it is easier to do but it helps me a lot when it comes to organizing my topic before turning it into paragraphs.
DeleteTrips to other countries? That must be exciting. It will be nice to hear about your experiences in foreign countries
DeleteA narrative essay is a type of essay that are based on experiences. It is sometimes telling a story in your own point of view. Some things can also be exaggerated because everyone experience the world differently. My topic for writing a narrative essay would be my first day at University of Guam. I chose this topic because it was very recent. I can still remember every detail.
ReplyDeleteIn today's lesson, I learned about the three tools that help support the main idea. They are outlining, clustering, and listing.
I know what you're talking about. That first day at UOG is still fresh in my mind. It will be easy to write the essay and include a lot of details.
DeleteWhen an author writes a narrative essay they are mainly writing it from their point of view. The writer will use their personal opinions and experiences to talk about the story. The essay will, for the most part, convey the writers perspective. I would write about my first day of college. The first day of college was full of many new and different experiences that I can easily write about by telling it from my point of view.
ReplyDeleteWe learned about organizing support which will help us write strong and supportive topic sentences for a paragraph or thesis for an essay.
DeleteIn my opinion a narrative essay is similar to that of an autobiography, in the sense that the reader will be seeing from the writer's point of view. Imagine Alice giving her personal point of view from when she went through Wonderland. Or if Jack Landon wrote White Fang from his point of view. Narrative essays seem to be relatively fun to write. They seem to be like writing journals, or a report.
ReplyDeleteMy essay will be about my first experience at UOG. Since it is very recent, it will be easier to write about since it is a fresh memory.
