  1. An expository essay is an essay which explains something via facts, rather than opinions. I would choose the topic "Explain why some teens skip school." because the topic has so many things to inform, explain, and describe. Today's overall activities that caught my attention was Diction. You are finding the best words for a particular purpose in addressing a certain audience.

  2. An expository essay is an essay which uses facts, with evidence to explain and back up the facts. The topic I would choose is "Explain how moving from place to place affects teens", because I have had a lot of experience with moving, while growing up. I could find facts on moving and relate it to my personal life to make it a little more fun to read.
Today's lesson on Stage 3 Process was about 'Writing/Revising/Editing'. I really liked the acronyms 'CLUESS' and 'CGPS'. It will help me remember things needed for revising and editing.

    5. The acronyms were the main points of the class session. Although the twelfth edition is "CGPS," I would still recommend "COPS" over "CGPS."

  4. An expository essay is an essay based on facts. I believe writing an expository would be easier for me if I had experience on the topic. For example, I chose to write about an important event in my youth, because I have more experience on this topic. In the lesson today, I learned about how tone has a big role in essays to emphasize how the writer feels. Overall, I enjoyed class, it was more interesting than the past couple days.

    5. I agree that experience on a topic makes expository essays much easier to write. I also liked how you mentioned tone, because an author's tone can really shape the reader's image of the topic.

  5. I would define an expository essay as a type of writing which purpose is to mainly inform the reader on a subject. I would have to go either with topic # 3, 4, and 22. I would have a lot to say on these topics because I can relate and topic 4 would be interesting to answer. The class went into stage three of the writing process which includes writing, revising, and editing and learning about CLUESS and COPS. We later learned about tone which when we read aloud the examples it had to sound angry, shy, humorous. It was funny enough that I can recall the meaning of tone and that it is under language.

  6. An expository essay is one that displays informational details about a specific topic. Just like everyone else, I was interested in the exercise where we had to use a certain tone of voice while reading paragraphs. For this essay, I chose "food" as my topic because I think it was the most convenient one to write as an "how-to" essay.

  7. An expository essay explains a topic that not focused to the writer's opinions or emotions. It is explained in a more straightforward manner, which is facts. The essay structure must have clear transitions between the intro, body, and conclusion. The introduction contains the these statement, the body usually includes three paragraphs that supports the thesis in detail, and the conclusion restates the thesis and the major points that are tied together. A topic I would choose would be why teens wear makeup because I know that I have a lot to say about this.

  8. An expository essay is an essay is where a writer chooses an idea or topic, finds evidence for that topic, then chooses an argument where he or she can inform readers. This essay takes the five-paragraph essay form which includes an introduction with a thesis, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion. When I write this essay I would choose "why some teens commit suicide", because there are many statistics and facts on this subject. I also know a few people who have unfortunately committed suicide and I believe it is an interesting, yet sad topic.
