  1. Well, I did the take-home test. My original topic was about the birth control pills but I had a hard time with the topic, so I chose animal experimentation. Overall I had fun doing my essay. It was within my interest, animals. XD

    5. You shoulda sticked with the birth control idea because then I would have given you 100% if I were grading your paper. Anyways, I like the anime topic too so, GOOD JOB!

    6. I know! I was shocked that you changed your topic, but great topic choice though!

    7. I like that topic, i was going to choose that topic as my backup.

    8. That interesting I choose the ban of cellphones while driving because it was a topic that everyone could relate to and that I kinda thought was easiest of the bunch but it is an interesting topic both the animal abuse and birth control

    6. Today was more silent than usual (David Lin) but overall today was good. I am glad I took the take home test but I did forget to cite my information so I am just as nervous as you are Ian

  3. I took the test in class and it was hard because I had to think really hard for my topic. I had some in mind but not enough for my essay. My topic was "Diving nationwide should not be permitted while talking/texting".

    3. Well hopefully you did your best on the test. I am grateful Dr.Rivera let us have a take- home test

    4. I chose that same topic. I agree that it was a challenging subject to write about.

    5. Hopefully you got a good grade on the test. I also chose the driving and cellphones topic. I chose it because it was more simple and didnt require to much in depth research. If you did not hear my thoughts on it, I sided with the "ban cellphones while driving".

  4. I myself also took the test in class. which is very hard for me because I had to start over again. I only use some of the information that I remember but it is not enough for my essay. So I spent all the class time thinking of information that would be helpful for my essay

    1. Yes, I was nervous about taking the test also because I forgot sone information that I have researched.

      Delete
    2. must have been really hard to come up or remember even the smallest research you did for the in class test.

    3. Argumentative essays require a lot of data, not only to inform the reader but to get them on your side of the argument/debate. So i think it is the hardest of the other essays.

  5. For this test, I took it in class so I had to be prepared and well researched about my topic. I did some research about my topic the day before the test. The information I gathered were really helpful for my essay.

    2. Nicely done bro! Glad to hear you felt pretty confident!

    3. I agree with you. I also had good knowledge about my topic and used it to my advantage too. It really helped and made me feel just as confident.

  7. This is my favourite test. It was controversial essays that required you to research and think beyond common knowledge. I feel confident I got a good grade.

    1. Wow, talk about the shortest answer yet very meaningful and accomplishing! Glad to hear your confidence! The "A" is coming your "way"! see what I did there with the rhymin?

    2. Its good to be confident.
I hope i did good on my test.

    3. Argumentative essays is a great ways to get into some spirited debates especially if everyone is contributing so they are one of my favorite but I enjoy a good narrative once in a while.

    4. thinking beyond common knowledge is a great addition to making an essay more stronger!

  8. the topic i choose for test number 4 was why we should allow novels that include explicit or mature content in high school. i was late to class because i had to type everything out, and in the mist of my typing decided to input more information and quotes. i hadn't notice that so much time had passed. it was my mistake, and a very stupid one too. but im happy with how my take home exam turned out! my inspiration? The only book that is soo explicit, salacious, and down right porn in literature form 50 shades of grey!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That sounds like an interesting topic!

      Delete
    2. Well...good for you...Even if I didn't see you at class. And also 50 shades of gray?? Really... Oh well you did it.

      Delete
    3. I think that we are all mature enough to read a book that contains explicit content. These books offer great elements of writing that highschool student need to learn when they write a essay or novel

      Delete
    4. It seems like you were very passionate about the topic you chose. I agree that we should allow those types of novels in school, as long as its educational.

  9. My topic was about birth control pills. I totally forgot that we had a choice to do it at home so when i did it in class i was struggling a bit. I didn't think it was to hard since i knew a few facts about it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hey don't worry you'll get it. You said you have the facts and you got it. And again wow that "birth control pill" topic is very popular choice in this test.

  10. I was glad that this test had the option to be done at home because I felt more prepared in what I wrote. I had ample time to think about my topic and do research on it unlike the essays in class that are timed in class where I blank out a lot.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I know! I was glad that Dr. Rivera gave us that option. The take home exam was much easier!!

      Delete
    2. Junalyn wasn't it you that choose to do it in class ;D but yes, really happy she let us the option of a take-home test

  11. I felt super prepared and ready for this "take-home test" I was able to do so much researching with so much time! I felt like I was gonna get a 100% after giving up all that work. Although I wish I was able to ask someone to proof read it. I did have one person proof read it but at that time I was only 3/4's done with the paper. Anyways, I felt amazing after completing it! I would rather always do these essays with a lot of time! When only having class period, I have to think fast and not have enough time to do it. But because of this take home test idea, I was able to feel fully prepared and complete it thinking I would get an A!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. And you would get your A. I know it. You know it. Easy better than I would ever get.

  12. First of all, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY Dr. Rivera :D

Any ways, I chose the take home exam because I knew that it would be easier for me to concentrate. My topic was about birth control pills, but I went for it. To be honest, I did the essay last minute. However, it wasn't that difficult to catch up because I've done this topic before back at high school, but I was against it. Well, hope everyone of you pass the exam with a high grade! Adios :)

    2. I'm confused... Were you for birth control pills in high school? or were you against it?

Cause I remember you talking about how you were FOR IT during our class..

  13. Today in class, I turned in my test #4 also checked my grade.
I can say that the take home test, I was prepared. Of course we had a huge amount of time doing it and i know i did great.

  14. The topic I wrote was about internet censorship.
It felt like a race against time while I was writing in class.
I also forgot that we had the opportunity to take home our test.
Anyway, I hope we all get the grade we want.

    2. I forgot that it was a take home test too ! I felt the same about how it was like a race against time.

    3. I think 90% of our class forgot we had the "take home" option... in fact i was under the assumption that our EXAM was the take-home test! lol!

  15. I decided to do the test in class because I preferred it like that. I figured it was easier to take during class time because I was more focused in a classroom setting than at home with several distractions. It was a fairly easy test and I enjoyed listening to what the others wrote.

    1. I did not hear which topic you chose to do because I left early. It sounds like you breezed through this test. I agree that I also enjoyed hearing others opinions on certain topic. Hopefully you do good on the test.

  16. I opted for the in class test. I chose the topic of whether or not to use death row inmates for scientific testing. To be honest, this was a difficult topic to write about but I feel comfortable with what I turned in

    1. very true... the death sentence is a very controversial issue. Good luck on your test!

  17. I decided to do the test in class. My topic was about Stem Cell Research. I did my research and learned up about the topic over the weekend. When it came to the actual test, I knew my stuff, but I didn't prepare an essay before hand.

    Replies
    1. The good thing is that you did your research and knew the material to give enough information on the stem cell research so I commend you. Good job.

    2. So was I, but I'm pretty confident. Hope we all pass.

    3. kudos to you! You sounded very knowledgeable when Dr. Rivera asked you about your topic! you answered her questions without hesitation.

  18. I was one of the students who took the in-class test. My topic was whether or not home-schooled students should take two years of "real" schooling before entering college. I had initially chose to write about a different topic, but by reasoning that I can relate easily to a home-schooler's life, I found it easier to write about my second topic of choice.

  19. The take home test was easy for me. It gave me the time to really make my essay strong. I had a lot of time trying to fix it. If i took the test in class, my essay would have been very poor.
