  1. Revising and editing are very important. Like the link says, revising can turn an okay paper into an awesome paper. I personally like to go back and revise my work. It gives me a chance to proofread and double check my paper for any errors. I also like to edit my work. Sometimes I can go though my paper three or four times and edit almost everything. I like to edit because while reading my paper over again I can go back and try to reword something and make it sound better. Revising and Editing is also important because you get to go back and put in things that you may have forgotten. You also get the chance to take things out that you may have liked in the first draft but after taking a second look, no longer feel like it belongs.

    1. I agree with that statement that proves editing and revising is only beneficial and works to IMPROVE your paper. I appreciate that you revise and edit your work ahead of time to make sure it is clear of the mistakes you can notice on your own before you have it peer-edited by someone else. You're only making their job easier! I forgot to mention in my post that you can add better and more important ideas as well as eliminate insignificant details you included previously and I like that you mentioned that in your post.

    2. Editing and revising my work is something that I also like to do. It makes me confident in turning in my work knowing that I have checked it over.

    3. I am glad that you enjoy constantly editing and revising your papers. It is a process that should not be overlooked when doing any form of writing. Editing and revising gives you many chances to change your writing so that you may produce and effective piece. It is definitely and eye-opening experience.

  2. It is important to revise and edit your work because more often than not, there are mistakes. If you do not correct those mistakes, it won't be as good of a paper.

    1. I agree Gelmae. No essay will ever be perfect, but editing and revising will get your pretty damn close. I know that in the past, I wrote many good essays that could have been great if I had just taken the time to revise and edit them. Honestly, it only takes a few minutes to read through the essay and make changes and I'm glad that I started doing that now.

    2. I agree with your post. It's a little too simple and to-the-point for my liking but at least we know you understand the big picture. I hope that you later choose to take the time and define exactly what details go into the benefits of revising and editing a paper.

    3. I agree. A good paper is one that has been edited and revised. I do not think that there has been a good paper without it being edited.

  3. If there is anything I have learned in this class that I will truly never forget, it is the significance of revising and editing any written work! This includes the range of something as large as a dissertation or a thesis for a degree down to an e-mail to Human Resources. It is adamant that the communication between you and your reader is clear. Your audience MUST be able to understand the point of your writing and the concept you are trying to get across. Not only will they learn something new for themselves from your writing, but they may also use it to teach someone else and you want to make sure you are being a teacher CORRECTLY by having proper spelling, grammar, excluding fragments, writing towards your designated audience, writing towards your intention (I.e. is this a research paper? Is this a novel?), and writing with the right information. Revising and editing covers so much of the writing skill: content, format, ideas and concepts... What is the point in writing if your work cannot be understood? That is the importance of revision and editing.

    1. I definitely agree that editing and revising is one of the biggest skills I have gotten out of taking this class. Whenever I send out an email, I always think back to that one class we had in the computer lab. I almost never capitalize all of my letters when I type. I used to do that all the time. I really learned how to clean up my essays and make sure my work was understandable and concise.

    2. I agree with you entirely. I think that every college student must have the skills in revising and editing. It is important knowing that you are turning in an assignment that has been looked over and made better.

  4. I think revising and editing is really important. It makes your work look professional and well thought out. It could also help the reader or audience understand your message. If there are a lot of typos or unclear sentences, your audience could become confused and uninterested. You could have the world's greatest message, but if it is not clear and you do not take the time to revise and/or edit it, no one will be able to understand it or they may not take it seriously.

    1. You really can have the world's greatest message, but if it isn't introduced in the correct manner, readers could misinterpret what the author is trying to say and the readers ideas can go hay-ward from there.

    2. Nobody would be interested in a paper that has not been edited and has many mistakes. It makes the reader not want to continue reading it because of the many errors that could have been corrected.

      Delete
    3. It would be too much of an eye sore for the readers, and would probably not continue reading the whole paper.

    4. I completely agree with you. Everything I am reading something and come across to many errors for my mind to process, I just automatically stop reading it. I like it when things just flow and are easily comprehendible. I don't like it when I have to constantly try to look past errors that could have been prevented. It does cause me to lose interest and disregard the amazing message.

    5. I know by personal experience that when someone has a lot of errors or typos in their writing I lose interest really fast. I get a headache when I try to read something that is either grammatically incorrect or doesn't make any sense. This is one of the reasons why I think that everyone should revise and edit all their work.

    6. I love that you mentioned that you could actually have all the valuable knowledge on the topic to create a great essay, but if it doesn't make sense and you didn't edit and revise, then it isn't useful. Also, I like that you mentioned how revision contributes to the professionalism of the essay.

    7. I totally agree that they are very important. Without it, the readers will be confuse and think of the paper as messy and hard to understand.

  5. Revising and editing is one of the parts that brings out the potential in a written essay. While an author could be writing his or her essay, he could be making grammatical errors and not even notice it to begin with. If that author does not go back to check what he or she has written and just allows others to read it right away, it will not be a good turn out. Even if there is a one perfect essay, there could be a small spelling error and that could just ruin the entire essay. Authors need to make their readers know exactly what he or she is talking about and revising and editing will really help in doing so.

    1. Yes I agree. I catch some grammatical errors in textbooks and novels I read sometimes. When I find mistakes like that I think about why the author and the editor didn't catch it and I also feel a lot better as a writer that I was able to catch the mistake myself.

    2. I agree that often times when I am writing an essay I make careless errors that a simple edit and revising can fix. A lot of the times when I am typing out my notes I don't look at what I am typing until I finish and then I realize I hit the wrong keys a couple of times. If I ever did that on an essay for school I think that the professor would fail me right away.

    3. I agree that an essay cannot reach its potential if it isn't improved...and improvement is formed by revision and editing. Especially when a writer is thinking too fast for his or her hands, he or she could be issing words or punctuation here and there. Additionally, I agree with the fatality of simple mistakes ruining an essay as a whole because it takes away from its professionalism and ultimately its credibility.

  6. Revising and editing is crucial part after writing your paragraph or essay. This step gives the writer the chance to look over his or her work, checking for any grammar or punctuation errors. The writer may add in or take away sentence to make their writing more effective and interesting. Sometimes it is best to edit your work more than once. There may be some mistakes that you may have missed. The revising and editing process should not be skipped.

    1. Skipping these two steps is like turning in your draft as your final paper, which results in errors here, there, and everywhere. I agree that editing and revising is crucial when writing.

    2. The revising and editing process is very important to all forms of writing. It could be the determining factor between amazing and mediocre writing. This process gives you a chance to reinvent and enhance your work. Your writing could have a horrible first draft, but after you have the opportunity to revise and edit it, your work may become a piece that everyone talks about.

    3. Skipping these steps is a bad move for the writer. Without these, the paper will be like a rough diamond. Very dull and lacking its beauty because it did not go through the right process to make it sparkle and shine.

  7. No matter what you are writing, whether it’s an email, a report or a set of minutes for your local golf club, it’s essential to revise and edit it. It’s tempting just to bash something out and click on send or print, but think first before you do that. You’ll pretty much always find a mistake, and it can give people a bad impression of you. The same goes when writing an essay. Editing and revising are two of the most important steps in the writing process. Revision is adding, cutting, and moving material from the draft. This means that revision is much more important and significant, and much different, than merely making "corrections" to spelling and punctuation errors. Instead, your job is to look at the "whole" work with a broad "vision" and make substantive changes.

    1. Yes, I totally agree. When sending out email's for work I make sure I reread everything in my message beforehand, especially when sending an email to one of my bosses. Revising and editing is important to make sure your work sounds professional and doesn't have any slang or grammar errors.

  8. Revising and editing is important in writing an essay or paragraph. It is like rough diamond that needs to go some process in order to see its beauty. Revising and editing is necessary in writing because it make the paper more refined and easy to understand. On the other hand, i did enjoy the brain stretcher in today`s class. It helps us to let our imagination to work.

    2. I really enjoyed your use of an analogy to make your point. I also completely agree with it. Your writing is just like a beautiful diamond waiting for the opportunity to shine. It just needs a little help to rid all the debris that is blocking it from sparkling, like errors are inhibiting your writing from its brilliance.

    3. I liked your comparison of revising and editing to the diamond. It looks like we have another poet in our class besides Nichole. I didn't attend class because I had to work, but I wish I would have. I really enjoyed the brain stretcher activities we did and hearing everyone's interpretations.

  9. Revising and editing are very important in order to improve your writing. Editing is usable for proof-reading when you want to correct any grammatical errors. Revising focuses on the paper as a whole. It deals with the strength and the weaknesses to help improve writing. Today, I found the logical fallacies very interesting. It was sort of confusing when we had to write the examples for each one.

  10. I believe that revising and editing are crucial steps in the writing process. Your work will never reach its full potential if there are careless mistakes that you could have fixed or prevented. Without revising or editing, the purpose of your writing might be lost amongst the errors within your piece, rendering your work weak or useless.
In regards to today's activities, I did not attend class. However, I did participate in the online session, which provided insightful information from many of my peers. I can honestly say that I have thoroughly learned the meaning of writing to persuade.

    1. I agree. Revising and editing is something that should never be skipped when writing essays. A simple grammar error can turn a potentially good paper to a paper that won't get a good grade because of all the simple mistakes not done. I think I have improved in my writing from this course because of all the revising and editing I do and all the peer reviews we've done as well.

    2. I agree also revising and editing is a must !

  11. Revising and editing are one of the last steps in the writing process, but it is also the most important in my opinion. You would need to reread your paper ahead of time to make sure you correct all your little grammar errors, as well as reword some sentences that don't exactly sound write in your essays. Revising and editing is also a good way to add on extra information that you feel will help improve your essay. When revising and editing you should be looking out for CLUESS and COPS, and also have your essay peer reviewed for anything you missed.

I think it Is a very useful writing practice. I practice revising and editing myself. I can not write an essay without revising. I think revising and editing are good step into writing a good paper.
