FAREWELL DR. RIVERA AND CLASSMATES - Section 12

Post your final goodbye entry.  It has been a pleasure having all of you as students.  I will certainly miss all of you, but I am confident that you will use the writing skills/strategies that you've gained to continue to write effective essays.  Good luck!

Best regards,
Dr. Rivera

  1. We have finally reached the end of the semester. It was nice to meet new peers and a great professor. Although I have not talked much to many of you, it was still great reading your blog entries and listening to your short stories. I have come a long way in this class, from learning basic writing techniques to writing effective essays. They were all very useful and will definitely be put to good use when moving on to a higher English course. Good luck to all and always strive for the best! (:

    3. PEACE OUT GIRL SCOUT! I hope to have more classes with you in the future because I didn't have the opportunity to get to know you better in this class. I wish you the best in your future and congratulate you on your success. Especially speaking Tagalog before English, you rocked at this class. GREAT WORK!

  3. I'm so excited for a new chapter in my learning experience at the University! But I am also sad that I'll have to be leaving this class especially when I've made such good friends with my classmates. I hope to be able to use and apply what I learned in EN100 not only in the next learning chapter but also in life! :)

    2. I'm also excited for next semester. This Fall semester flew by so fast I can't even believe how much material we were able to cover in those few months, especially because I remember in high school we never finished our whole textbooks and that was a whole year of one subject. I'm grateful for everything we've learned in this course, and looking forward to using it next semester. Happy Holidays!

    3. Summer, one thing I learned about you over the course of the semester is that you express yourself through your wardrobe. Your clothes are pretty radical, might I add. I am glad you have succeeded through the course and WE DID IT!

    4. Hey Summer! First of all, I really love your name. I agree with Monica. Your style is very unique and you can pull it off all the time! Good luck in your future classes! (:

  4. Thank you guys for such a wonderful college experience. We have grown and learned a lot from each other. I am confident enough to say that I am ready for higher level English. This class has been great, but it is time to move on. Although the semester is over, let us not forget what we have learned. Have a great Christmas break everyone!

    2. I am glad we took on this journey together. Let me tell you, this class was a lot tougher than I had imagined. However, I am so glad we were both able to grow together. If I recall, you peer edited one of my papers in the very beginning of the class, months ago. Also, I learned in class that you're very intellectual and you have more to offer to writing than just essays. Happy Holidays...now we out! (:

    3. I have to say that for my first semester in college, you guys were pretty awesome! I learned so much from all of you, even though I never really talked to a lot of you, I am truly grateful to have shared this experience with you all.

    4. I cannot wait to move up to a new English class. I feel like I now have the capabilities to perform at my best in my future writings. I am glad that you were able to grow into a stronger writer. I hope that you continue to apply what you learned from this class to your upcoming English classes as well as any writing you may need to do. This journey was a pleasure and I am grateful that I was able to experience it with this particular group of people.

    5. Shar, I cannot believe we were classmates. On the first day I was kind of scared because I thought I would not have a friend. It was a good thing you were there.

  5. Time flies by so fast, I didn't expect this semester to go by this quickly. I've learned a lot through this course, not just by what we're being taught, but also by Dr. Rivera and my fellow classmates and peers. I'm confident to say that I've gained the knowledge and experience necessary in english to go about and complete advanced english courses in the future. I certainly won't forget the things I've learned in this course. I'll be missing my fellow classmates, and teachers. I hope everyone will have a great Christmas break! Take care! I hope to see all of you again sometime!

    3. Miko, you're my buddy. I hope you actually get the chance to read it. We became friends through this class. We probably missed out on a lot of valuable information when we were jabbing our mouths off. We were die-hard homies. If you missed anything, I had your back. I even shared my dark chocolate with you. I am so glad we were in this class together because you are my battle buddy and my English homeboy. WE DID IT MAN. At least I hope we did!

    4. Miko, I agree that this semester went by in the blink of an eye. I could have sworn it was just yesterday that we were all learning how to use blogspot and now we are posting our farewells. It is truly a bitter-sweet moment.

  6. I'm really happy with what I learned from this class. In the beginning of the semester I was kind of disappointed that I was placed in EN100, but then after everything we learned this semester I realized I wasn't as great of a writer as I thought I was before. My writing skills have improved immensely from this course. Our book taught me a lot of techniques that I will need for the next English level. I really enjoyed everyone in class, and all the group activities we did. Happy Holidays Everyone and good luck in EN110!

    1. I'm glad this class helped you out a lot as it did for me. I am not a very good writer too, but with everyone always volunteering to read their stories or answers from the exercises, it has made me open my mind to more creative ideas.

    2. I admit that in the beginning I was extremely disappointed in myself for placing in EN100, but I realized that it was truly a blessing in disguise. I know now that if I had just dived straight into EN110 I might have just drowned there. I really needed this "refresher course" as I liked to call it.

    3. It is great to hear that this class has helped you to become a better writer. I'm glad that we were all able to take this course together. The support and encouragement we received was very much appreciated. Our knowledge on writing grew immensely and I wish that you continue to strengthen your skills. Good luck to you as well in EN110!

    5. I agree, i was a bit disappointed that I got into EN100, though I realize that I did need improvement with my writing. I'm glad we came so far with only going through one semester. It was an honor to have you all as my fellow classmates.

  7. To Dr. Rivera,
It has been a joy and an honor to have been your student. I appreciated your understanding with me through my rough times when I wasn't able to concentrate as well as the times where I might have been concentrating a little too much. I like that you had a lot of student involvement in your class instead of your average lecture class. You gave us a chance to express ourselves and improve ourselves with the help of our peers. Because of your class, we not only established new relationships but also learned a lot of new writing material and strategies (as well as stages of writing) to help guide us when writing in the future. All the extra hours I spent on this class specifically, even considering the heavy workload that came with the course...I can proudly say I survived; Maybe even succeeded. I am proud of the work I have completed in the class and the complete improvement since the placement test. Now I can also say...I'm ready for EN110! Thank you for all you've done for us and molding us into better writers for our futures.

To the class: WE DID IT! Thanks to everyone who actually posted on the moodle or blog first so we actually had people to respond to. Thank you to anyone who ever complimented me on a blog or moodle post. Thank you to anyone who noticed that I am not just goofy but I am actually pretty smart when it comes to writing. Additionally, thank you to anyone whoever HELPED me in class: With peer reviews, telling me which page we were on, giving me support ideas, telling me the date of something, or offering me advice. You guys are great.

  9. Over the course of my first semester in college, I've learned many things. Most of which were in my EN100-12 class. I am truly grateful to you, Dr. Rivera, and to all of you, my peers for helping me to improve my writing skills. I know for sure that I am ready to move on to the next level of classes required to succeed in college. I look forward to seeing all of you on graduation day, and be able to look back and say that we have all come so far. I will always look upon these past few weeks with fond memories of our time spent together. I cannot wait to see what the world has in store for each of us. Thank you all for helping me to grow and learn not only in our English class, but in life. Farewell for now.

  10. Haha! I can't believe I almost forgot to post my blog today. Well, I can say that I've had my fair share of trials and errors in not only this class, but this whole semester. This was my first semester here at UOG, so I'm proud to have made it out alive. Jokes aside, I have learned a great deal in our EN100 class. To be honest, I was really disappointed when I got placed into an EN100 class when I did the entrance exams. But now, I can't believe I got disappointed about learning a whole bunch of useful information! Silly me.

Bye bye everyone! Perhaps I will have some of you again in my other classes.
