Well, another blog of the week. Run-on sentences should be avoided, for they go on and on and on and on, just like this one. Running the sentences go, far and wide, hoping to end. Run-on sentences, such a thing existed for people can't end their sentences. This is to long.
ReplyDeleteSo very true. (XD) some run-on sentences are too long that it bores the readers quickly.
DeleteHaha, I agree with you smarty pants!
DeleteRunning On and On and On - all that running and never a time to take a break? Who would want to punish themselves like this? :)
DeleteYup. I liked writing run on sentences when i was young.
DeleteDefinitely man, they run on and on and on!
Deleteso now i know who you meant by someone calling you a smarty pants.
Besides it being incorrect, we should avoid run-on sentences because they just look wrong and they don't make much sense. My thoughts for today's session is that we were really lively. We continued to discuss about classification and did some of the activities after the essays we read today. I was able to relate to both essays which talk about groups of doctors and the some pressures college students experience. In short I had funin today's class.
ReplyDeleteYes, run-on sentences should avoided. I'll make this short so that it won't be running-onand on and on and on.
DeleteYes today the pressures were taught and learned.
This is too long.
Running!!!
Yes we should avoid run-on sentences. I also had fun today :)
DeleteI agree with the smarty! Run on sentences should be avoided, and that Ian is going to be soo fit from all that running! O.o
DeleteRun on sentences will make me tired of reading a story. Everyone in class today are smart haha. were all smart :)
DeleteYeah, run on sentences usually makes the person feel like they aren't controlling their grammar in such a way like this.

ReplyDeleteActually they do makes it's just that they keep on going and going and going and on going. Just like this one and it just make sense... XD
DeleteWe should avoid run-on sentences because they are often not clear. They usually don't make any sense and it creates a confusion between the writer and reader.
ReplyDeleteOverall, I had fun in class today :) The activity we did that involved pressure was quite interesting. It's good to know that I'm not the only one who feels the pressure of being a college student.
When did I become a smarty-pants? (XP) Never mind... Anyway, I agree with your statement and that today was interesting especially the part two of our meeting.
DeleteI like today's story reading. Something we can all relate to.
DeleteThis girl is starting to become a smarty pants herself. that and she is being more loquacious in class! that is somewhat a good compliment from me.
DeleteEveryone and their big words haha. Every one is a smarty pants.
DeleteRun-on sentences are like wanna-be short paragraphs. It wants to express a lot in one sentence because having two sentences is lame. Run-on sentences are too long. We should avoid them because they create a disaster within that one sentence. It's also unprofessional. Your professors would already judge your grammatical errors. This would be a bad start for your paper. Today was sort of a quiet day in class but still always lively, possibly because of me. We learned some more information about Classification.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Reading a run on sentence will tire me out.
DeleteYeah, I agree. The class is always lively when you're around David, especially when you're on sugar. (:D) Sometimes committing run-on sentences is unavoidable but we can always correct them afterwards.
Deletehaha..wanna-be short paragraphs. I agree now that we are in college professors expect a lot from our writing.
DeleteRun-on sentence syndrome, caught by many and avoided by few. Although we may not openly confess about being victimized by the Run-on sentence syndrome, we've all done it. Is it acceptable now that we've reached our college years? No, and we do take precautions in order to ensure that we don't catch this grammar syndrome in our papers, essays, and research reports. The Run-on sentence syndrome is a grammar illness were an individual expresses their thoughts over long sentences, usually linked together with extensive uses of commas. Treatment for such a serious syndrome: extensive peer review sessions, or typing assignments using computers with grammar checks. -diagnosed by Dr. Christelyn Lopez (be advised that christelyn Lopez is not a doctor, and will not be responsible for any diagnostic side affects, thank you).
ReplyDeletetoday's material was really interesting. The two essays was such a great read. The class wasn't as lively today maybe it was because we were all a little tired. But we did have a revolution! We had an amazing 5 seconds of pure silence! A miracle! Given by our very own David Lin for sitting on the other side of the class room. (Applauds) Truly an amazing day! ;)
Yup. David was focusing on the blog thats why the room was silent. Reading the story today was okay. About college pressures.
Deleteagree. Sometimes when correcting our peers essay we can spot run-on sentences, but when it comes to our own paper we don't realize it.
DeleteLoL! I totally agree on you there Christelyn. The miracle of silence (XD) it was great while it lasted. Unfortunately, I am a victim of Run-on Syndrome and hopefully your advice can help in my future essays.
DeleteWow that's a lot to put up. I can see my house from here. XD
DeleteAnyway, I'll just agree to it because it's long and very descriptive.
Somehow, i just had to read this.
DeleteBUT ANYWAYS, wow, so wordy and nicely put.
Run on sentences are common mistakes. A Run on sentence is a sentence that keeps going on and on with out any periods or commas. Today in class, there was a lot of talking suddenly became quiet. Today in class was great just fun "vibes" today.
ReplyDeleterun on sentences is a common mistake I need to fix. I think this is the first time class was ever quiet.
DeleteI'm pretty sure everyone has a problem with run-on sentences sometimes we just don't realize it. The reason why we should avoid it is because it makes the essay unclear. When moving on to a higher English level run-on sentences are common mistakes we need to fix.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy going to class on moodle day, today was fun and work was easy.
Although I do not have trouble with run-on sentences, it is still very common. It makes the essay very confusing. Today's class showed that everyone was getting comfortable with each other.
