Now that you are well familiar with a controlling idea/organizing and developing support, discuss a topic sentence that would be good to explore for the Holidays.
Example: Yesterday, I had an unusual Christmas experience at the Field House.
Please note that the above topic sentence enables the audience to inquire what kind of experience you've had and why it was unusual.
In addition, discuss your thoughts on today's class activities. (re: definition continued, essay brain stretcher, etc.)
a good topic sentence would be celebrating Christmas at work.Today's class activity was awesome. My picture was a banana so i was hungry, but i did write a good essay. I LOVE SCHOOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an interesting topic. It was cool how we were given simple pictures and we had to come up with a way to make it sound like there was a story that laid behind it.

ReplyDeleteA good topic sentence would be going down south to visit my cousins. Today`s class activity was pretty fun. I had a monkey that was in a zoo. It made me want go to the zoo.

DeleteWhat an interesting topic! The south contains a lot of fun places to celebrate events! Zoos are fun and sad at the same time because some of the animals look sad.. I hope they're doing okay!

DeleteA good topic is Christmas a holiday of many surprises. I like the lesson for class today. I like how we reviewed the stages and formats of an essay. I also like how we had to use the three stages to describe one picture. Today's class was really good.

DeleteMy topic would be My first Christmas in Connecticut. I enjoyed the brain-stretcher exercise we did today. It was different from our usual routine and it challenged me to be creative with a simple picture. I also found it interesting to hear some of the others' brain-stretcher paragraph. I could tell that our class has a good imagination.

DeleteA topic to explore during the holidays? How many of the Christmas customs celebrated today all originated from horrible rituals including human sacrifice, manipulation, murder, etc. Today's discussion on definitions really helped me understand it more such as the essay on extremists and how there was use of contrast to define it. The brain-stretcher activity was interesting. It's a good exercise that incorporates the idea of dealing with a set topic a professor gives you so, you have to be creative and work with it.

DeleteI always wondered about the origins. That topic is an enigma because of the information you may find out! The word extremist was repeated to emphasize that topic. It was good! Yes, I agree with you on the brain-stretcher discussion!
DeleteMy topic would be ' Being able to enjoy New Years twice in a row.' I enjoyed today's lesson, it was definitely a great way to brainstorm. I can't wait to see what activities we are going to participate in next class.

DeleteMy topic would be "I have losses, and I have gains." I've lost many friends. I had a friend who committed suicide shortly after my graduation. Just recently, a close friend of mine died in a serious car accident. However, my veteran brother has returned after eight years of service. Life is something I still don't understand.

DeleteMy topic would be on "Christmas shopping madness!" Today's class was quite different from the other class days. We did an evaluation as well as a further discussion on definition. The brainstretcher was quite interesting because of the fact we were given one picture and we would have to use our creative thinking to come up with a short story behind it or at least listing/outlining. My picture was a family grocery shopping. I assumed the children like yogurt..Yum!

ReplyDeleteClass was different and interesting. Having different pictures to write and share about was a fun activity. My picture was 2 kids eating carrots. very random!
Unfortunately I was absent on this particular class day. However, I think that a good controlling statement would be along the lines of: A Christmas away from home.
