todays lesson was pretty chill i learned about the way someone can describe his point of view when he is racing or about to race. it made me see things sort of in his way. also for shastri i learned a diffrent way to feel because it describes her feeling when her mom cried and stuffs. was a good day today
ReplyDeleteagreed, today's lesson was the same , but the stories were more interesting and I listened more carefully because i was interested.
DeleteI agree. We can determine many things from the way the author writes the his or her essay. For example, we were able to determine that Mike Kavanagh was writing about drag racing from experience, because he wrote his essay in first person point of view.
DeleteI agree. I also enjoyed the drag racing portion. It printed me out a vivid picture of how fast he was going, and how loud the crowd was.
DeleteTodays lesson was pretty fun. I loved the stories we read because it was interested such as the racing story and the story about Shastri whose mom wanted to arrange a marriage. It was all exciting stories and i learned a lot from the questions.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The stories today were really appealing. I think what made the stories interesting today is the fact that the authors included a lot of descriptive detail (descriptive narration) with in their essay which painted a picture of the experience to us.
DeleteI agree, the stories were pretty interesting. It must suck that she has to go through an arrange marriage and not be able to marry the person she wants to marry. If the cards do play it right, she may be interested in the man her parents choose for her.
DeleteThe stories were good examples on descriptive narrations because there were proper point of views and good structures.
DeleteThe stories were very informative. It really helped me grasp a better understand of a Descriptive Narrative!
DeleteYes, the questions after the interesting stories did help out a lot! It got me thinking even further into the stories.
DeleteI really enjoyed the stories as well and thought they were great examples of a descriptive narrative.
DeleteThat story was awesome to read. I can't write like that no matter how hard I try.
DeleteToday's lesson was interesting. The material we discussed today enabled me to better understand what a descriptive narration piece really looks like. After our first exercise about The Drag, I was able to pick out parts of the essays that really highlighted the descriptive narration.
ReplyDeleteYou know when an descriptive narration paragraph or essay is good, if it appeals to your senses.
I also enjoyed the little informal activity we had today in class when we went around the room sharing what we consider as comfort food. I though this was a good way to bond as a class. this is something we should do more often.
agreed, i hope to learn more about narrative and a descriptive essay to prepare us for the test this tuesday.
DeleteI agree, I think I have this whole descriptive narration paragraph or essay down. Hopefully this will help me in the future tests or in writing.
DeleteI agree, the exercises also helped me understand how to make a descriptive narration essay proper and effective.
DeleteYes, The Drag essay was very effective.
DeleteI agree! I think that we should have more 'bonding learning' exercises in class. It fun and a good way to learn something about each other, while also learning about descriptive narration.
DeleteThe senses are the key to writing description. The two stories on descriptive narration are perfect examples. I agree! The drag exercise was most effective to me.
DeleteI think it was the first time the class actually got to know one another and bonded a little. It was really nice, I really enjoy that! I hope we have more discussion in class rather than online, because we will learn and understand more about our classmates and the lesson in class.
DeleteI thought that today's lesson was pretty interesting. I liked that we were really involved in this discussion. I really liked that we went around the room and got to know each other a little more.
ReplyDeletethat's true we had so much interesting things we liked and talked about with each other. It was a t'serry interaction.
DeleteIt was a really great way to have everyone be able to talk at the same time and get to know each other. I believe we should have an ice-breaker every beginning of class.
DeleteI agree, I liked how it was a little more interactive than usual and getting to know something about each other.
DeleteIt was really interesting today! We should continue to break the ice a little more each day, while learning.
DeleteThat activity was pretty fun! Everyone's answers were all interesting.
DeleteI agree! Like what Foe said also... we should have an icebreaker every class..
DeleteToday's lesson was okay in my opinion. Just like the other days in class, we learned about descriptive narration, which I think is a combination of being descriptive and narrative. The class exercise helped me understand how to make a descriptive narration paper. I also enjoyed how everyone shared their comfort food, or something that picks them up.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, today i felt like we got closer to our classmates and we refreshed our memories for our narrative and descriptive essays.
DeleteI agree, there should be a balance between being descriptive and narrative. The material we went over was helpful to understand how the essay works.
DeleteAfter the lesson we had in the past class i feel like i will be more comfortable composing a descriptive narration essay than any other essay, because it seems easier to tell a story from experience than to research information to incorporate into your essay.
DeleteToday's lesson we read over some examples of descriptive narrations and it helped me understand that there should be a balance between being descriptive and narrative. The next activity we did was about comfort food and routines. It was interesting to hear all the different and similar things we had to share.
ReplyDeleteThe lesson helped me see and understand the balance of description and narration in an essay as well. I also enjoyed the class activity we had, to me it changed the routine and serious tone of the class, we had a chance to share some laughs as a class and also got to know a little about each other.
DeleteYes, the balance is important because it is in fact called descriptive narration. Oh, yes! That activity was interesting because we all shared something personal and we had the chance to know each other a little more.
DeleteYes, I thought the discussion about comfort and comfort food was interesting. It was nice to hear interact and share face to face with students in the class.
DeleteToday's lesson made me understand how to write a better descriptive narrative. The sample essays that we read and discussed were so effective, I can now distinguish the difference between a descriptive narrative essay and a regular essay. I think this essay will be fun to write because it includes using your senses. I'm stoked!
ReplyDeleteI agree! I think this essay would be so much fun to write!
DeleteI also agree and good luck on writing your essay!
DeleteI agree. I think this essay would be really interesting to write! I'm sure yours will be good because of your enthusiasm!
DeleteYes this essay would be fun to write. We're all capable of writing this essay!
DeleteIn today's lesson, I started to really understand what descriptive narration essays were. My favorite one was 'The Drag', because I felt like I was there with the writer. I started to get the chills when the lights were 'yellow, yellow, yellow, GREEN'. Descriptive narrative essay is an essay I enjoy reading and I think I would really enjoy writing, as well.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed going around the class and telling everyone our 'pick me ups' and/or comfort food. It was fun to learn different things about our classmates and I would love to do more exercises in class like that. Even if now, I keep thinking of huge spiders being on the walls and smashing them w/ my hand!!
My favorite was the drag too. I felt the adrenaline rush reading it!
DeleteThe examples such as "The Drag" were so good to use. I could feel all the senses.
DeleteToday's lesson was interesting. I can feel the thrill in the activity of the passages that we read today. I took notes to prep for test number two. I'm also on my way to keep in mind of my writer's guidelines in regards to my upcoming essays.
ReplyDeleteI like how you took notes to prepare for test two. I did as well, and I hope we all do better on this test than the first one. There is always room for improvement! I also felt the thrill in the activity we did in class, especially the story about the drag race.
DeleteFrom this past lesson, I learned more about descriptive narrative essays. Both stories were great examples, they helped me understand what a descriptive narrative essay should consist of. I feel as if this essay should be an interesting one to write.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you were able to understand what I can not master. I still need practice.
DeleteFrom this past lesson, I learned more about descriptive narrative essays. Both stories were great examples, they helped me understand what a descriptive narrative essay should consist of. I feel as if this essay should be an interesting one to write.
ReplyDeleteThe lesson was intriguing! Descriptive narration is a powerful kind of essay. The stories were both excellent. I felt like I was actually experiencing a drag race and I felt the pain the mother had in the first story. The exercises made an impact and helped me understand the lesson even more.
ReplyDeletePowerful kind of essay indeed. Can't wait to see hear your essay.
DeleteI agree. The essays were really powerful and I could feel as if I were Shastri and at the drag race.
DeleteI thought this lesson was really useful. I enjoyed the both descriptive narratives that we read and I thought it gave me a good idea of what a descriptive narrative is. I also liked how we went around the room and shared our favorite comfort food.
ReplyDeleteI thought the narrative story was good, the examples shows different situation or scene or narration but written well. I find both stories quite true to real life situation. "Yearning for Love" was a heartache for her family and herself, and "The Drag" was quite an adrenalin! I feel like I was in the car with the driver.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The Drag was so effective it made me feel like I was in the car as well.
